In the different neighborhoods of the city, between the Historic Center and the waterfront, tourists can taste a variety of the gastronomic segments, from international cuisine, through the traditional churros and pastries carts, to the first School-Restaurant in the city, in addition to others that also serve the city's official dish: Mecca Santista.

Santos makes your mouth water!

Try it!

Food Market

Opened in early 2020 on the property where the Cine Praia Palace (1966- early 1990s) was located, the 1,250m² Food Market, with some of the best local cuisine. There are more than 20 options, from pasta houses; oriental, latin, vegan and Brazilian food; burgers; grilled meat; crepes and ice cream shops; cafeterias and a local brewery; bar, gift shop and much more.

Gastronomic Street

Rua Gastronomica, located in Gonzaga, a 400-meter stretch of Rua Tolentino Filgueiras, between avenues Ana Costa and Washington Luís, brings together not only 15 establishments from different food sectors, but also has decoration that sets it apart from the rest of the city. It even has thematic traffic lights for pedestrians, at the corner of Ana Costa, with different shapes in the focal sets.

Bistro Station School Restaurant

On the ground floor of  Valongo Station is the Estação Bistrô, the first school-restaurant on the coast of São Paulo. The original floor, with two types of hydraulic tiles, was discovered in 2003, during the renovation on the property. Open to the public on June 5th, 2012, the restaurant-school is aimed at training young people in a state of social vulnerability in the Food & Beverage sector.

Paru - Street food from the sea

The second restaurant, in Santos, by chef Dario Costa (the first is Madê), winner of the last edition of the reality show Mestre do Sabor, comes with a different proposal and even has a butcher shop where you can buy items to cook at home. Situated at the Ponta da Praia Fish Market, opened on July 17, 2020, Paru is a kind of seafood restaurant, with informal food and a short menu, based on sandwiches (there even has a hot dog, but with seafood), portions of fish, fish and grilled seafood.

Oh! Don't even think about ordering salmon or cod. The restaurant does not serve fish that traveled by plane to get to Santos – all items are from Brazilian waters and, in most cases, come from artisanal fisheries in the region. And almost 100% of the vegetables are organic, coming from known growes.

A large grill and a closed barbecue are the stars of this kitchen. On the very special menu, fish nigiri of the day (typical oriental), oysters (Paru has its own aquarium), Frito di Mare, Tuna Katsu (typical Hawaiian street food, prepared with tuna), Tuna Burger (blend of tuna) and, among others, Na Brasa, assembled with a type or mix of fish and seafood, according to the customer's choice. To get in the mood, start by ordering a portion of sea sausage appetizer. Want to take the experience home?

So be sure to stop by Sea Butcher.
